From IIT Graduate to UPSC Topper

Aditya Srivastava UPSC Topper, a 26-year-old from Lucknow, has achieved a monumental feat by securing the top position in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023. This remarkable achievement comes in his third attempt, illustrating a journey of perseverance and dedication.

Aditya’s academic journey began at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where he completed a Dual Degree BTech/MTech Program. Post-graduation, he ventured into the corporate world, accepting a position with a private company in Bengaluru, where he earned an annual package of ?40 lakh. Despite the lucrative job, the call to serve in the civil services led him to eventually leave the private sector.

A Journey of Resilience and Determination

Aditya’s initial attempts at the UPSC exams were challenging. He was unable to clear the prelims on his first try due to inadequate preparation. Undeterred, he continued to work in Bengaluru while preparing for the exams. His determination paid off in his second attempt, where he not only passed the exams but also earned a respectable 236th rank, securing a position in the Indian Police Service (IPS), currently undergoing training in Hyderabad.

The Final Leap to Success

In 2023, Aditya decided to give the UPSC exams one last shot, driven by his lifelong dream of becoming an IAS officer. His resolve and hard work finally culminated in topping the UPSC exams, an achievement that filled his family with immense pride. His father, Ajay Kumar Srivastava, a CAG official, shared the joyous news over a phone call from Hyderabad, stating it was a moment of incredible pride for the family, akin to "icing on the cake."

Family and Educational Background

Aditya's educational foundations were laid at City Montessori School, Aliganj branch, where he completed his schooling up to Class 12, passing out in 2014. That same year, he cracked the JEE and secured his place at IIT Kanpur. Jyoti Kashyap, the proud principal of his school, expressed immense pride in Aditya's achievements, highlighting the significance of his accomplishment in what is considered the toughest exam in the country.
